The Amor en Acción (Love in Action) mission was started in April 2018 by Vinicio (Vinny) and Fabiola (Fabi) Samayoa in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala (also known by its Mayan name Xela). Vinny and Fabi had careers in banking when they received a calling from God to become pastors. Their calling led them to their current mission of sharing the Gospel with the Mayan communities in Xela. In November 2019, Amor en Acción was officially approved as a charitable organization by the Guatemalan government.
“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech
but with actions and in truth.” (1 John 3:18 NIV)
To show the love of God by serving the people who work in the municipal dump, and the children and families living in the poorest Mayan communities of Quetzaltenango, sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and supporting them in their needs.
“He said to them, Go into all the world and
preach the gospel to all creation.” (Mark 16:15 NIV)
Mission teams are especially important to help Amor en Acción share God’s Word for several reasons. First, they provide much needed hands-on assistance and support to the two-person team of Vinny and Fabi Samayoa. Second, mission teams can bring new ideas and insight to the process, which benefits both Amor en Acción and the Mayan people. And, last but certainly not least, the Mayan communities realize that people who live thousands of miles away are providing their time and financial resources to visit and support them. As a result, they are eager to find out more about Jesus.
“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure,
pressed down, shaken together and running over,
will be poured into your lap. For with the measure
you use, it will be measured to you.” (Luke 6:38 NIV)
Land Purchase & Facility Construction
It is nearly impossible for Amor en Acción to expand their mission without a base of operations near the communities they serve. Cultural practices limit group settings in homes, varying work hours limit the opportunity for day-time meetings, and the lack of utilities in most homes prevents evening meetings. Therefore, Amor en Accion’s next phase to expanding their mission is to purchase land and construct a facility. A facility will provide a place to have worship services, adult Bible studies, and Bible school for the children. A facility will also help streamline and centralize the storage and distribution of food for the sponsored children. This phase of the mission will certainly require significant funding and a great deal of prayer to become a reality. Amor en Acción and their supporters are praying that funding for this important need will be provided. If you would like to donate for the purchase of land and construction of a facility, you can do so by clicking on the Donate tab above.
“I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld
your power and your glory.” (Psalms 63:2 NIV)
